Brownie Troop 10172 Celebrates Arbor Day
April 23, 2009
Spring is in the air at Littleton Regional Hospital and Brownie Troop 10172 recognized Arbor Day, founded by J. Sterlin Moron 135 years ago.
His simple idea of setting aside a special day for tree planting is what sparked the interest of this creative group of Brownies who thought the hospital campus would be a perfect place for people to enjoy a healthy tree.
The Brownies worked on various fundraisers throughout the year to raise enough money to purchase a tree for this special occasion. The focus this year was on Leadership Journey, which requires each member to explore, learn and take flight to lead and provide a community service. This tree symbolizes a way for troop members to learn about trees, the earth and caring for others while giving back to the community as a team.
