Gale Medical Library Opens Anna Connors Patient and Family Resource Center
March 31, 2009
Gale Medical Library at Littleton Regional Hospital (LRH) is pleased to announce the grand opening of the Anna Connors Patient and Family Resource Center. The community is invited to join in on the celebration Thursday, April 16th, from 3:30 pm – 5:30 pm, in the atrium of the H. Taylor Caswell, Jr. Physicians’ Office Building Conference Center. This event coincides with National Library Week (April 12-18), an annual celebration of the contribution of our nation’s libraries of all types, including school, public, academic, and special libraries.
The Resource Center is a place where patients, families, and friends can find just the right health information. Since the early 1990’s, donations from the Connors family to the Littleton Regional Hospital Auxiliary have made it possible for Gale Medical Library to develop The Connors Collection of consumer health resources for women. Over the years, the collection has expanded to include topics for men, caring for children and elderly parents, and much more. The collection has grown from storage on two book carts that were wheeled each day into a public area, to its own space within the Gale Medical Library. The Resource Center is a comfortable location for patients or visitors to the Hospital who may be waiting for an appointment, a second phase of a diagnostic/timed test, or people in the community who are looking for good information on a health matter. A trained health sciences librarian will assist visitors to the Center in finding up to date and easy to understand materials. The Patient and Family Resource Center is another example of LRH’s commitment to patient-centered care.
The Anna Connors Patient and Family Resource Center is open to the public during regular business hours (Monday-Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm) or by appointment. To learn more, contact Anne Conner, Director, Gale Medical Library, at 603-444-9564.
