Since 1907, the LRH Auxiliary has been an important part of the Littleton Regional Healthcare. Each member is dedicated to supporting the Hospital through fundraising, educational events and service projects. The Auxiliary works closely with the Hospital and LRH Charitable Foundation to support a positive healthcare experience for our North Country community.
Financial support for the Auxiliary projects comes from generous donations, membership dues, gift shop earnings and fundraising events. Our major fundraiser, The Moose Ledge Gift Shop offers convenient access to a wide variety of delightful items for LRH patients, visitors and employees. The Books Are Fun book fairs, the sale of an Auxiliary Cookbook, the Holiday Cookie Sale, the sale of mulligans at the Dr. Moose Golf Tournament, and the Bag Ali sale also generate funds. Each year at the start of the holiday season, the Auxiliary hosts a Tree of Lights Ceremony that provides an opportunity to honor the memory of loved ones and raises funds for the LRH pastoral care programs. A very generous annual gift from the Connors family allows us to support the Anna Connors Memorial Collection in the LRH Gale Medical Library. This lending library offers a wide variety of books and other resources on women's health issues, and is available to the public as well as Auxilians and LRH employees.
In recent years the LRH Auxiliary has disbursed more than $28,000 annually to support programs and services that include the Care-A-Van Program, the Palliative Care Program, scholarships to area high school seniors and LRH employees to pursue health career studies, Emergency Department sweat suits for patients to wear home after treatment, Reach Out and Read Program, Women's Health Conference, Doctors' Appreciation Day, Employee Sundaes during National Hospital Week, North Country Health Consortium women physicians' writing project, Cardiac Health Awareness, Allied Health Program at Littleton High School, and the Garden of Life flower garden located outside the oncology department.
In addition, Auxilians donate countless hours in service projects such as the Emergency Department hospitality table, festive holiday decorations, maintaining the Garden of Life, information outreach, the Love That Fuzz plush animals program, and a visit to patients from Santa on Christmas Eve.
If you feel that you would like to contribute to our goals of supporting Littleton Regional Healthcare (and join the fun we have while doing so), there are many different ways to put your talents to work. Are you a people person? Would you like to visit with patients or clerk in the gift shop? Do you have artistic ability? Do you write well? Do you bake or quilt or have a green thumb? Do you have financial or administrative ability? Are you a leader or a worker bee? You can do as much or as little as your schedule and inclination allows. The dues are $15 per year or $75 for a lifetime membership. Please consider joining us.
